It's beginning to look a lot like... Diwali!

Yesterday was Dhanteras, the beginning of the Indian festival of Diwali. Dhanteras is a celebration of wealth... and that means Indians celebrate wealth of every kind. I saw this on Facebook, and thought it was the perfect description:

When a child needs his father's time and the father puts his phone away, switches the TV off, and gives his 100 percent to child, that moment is DHAN for the child.

When even after 20 years of marriage, a husband still tells his wife 'I Love you' and appreciates her for what she is with all honesty, that moment is DHAN for the wife.

When parents are old and they need attention and compassion from their children and when they get it, that moment is DHAN for the parents.

May your life and world be filled with all such DHAN which makes our life truly worth living.Happy Dhanteras.

Indians generally celebrate Dhanteras by praying to Laxmi, the goddess of wealth, and by decorating the house in preparation for Diwali. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to create my Diwali/Thanksgiving tablescape. I ended up using things I have lying around the house... they look so much better displayed all together with a beautiful table cloth backdrop.

Hope the rest of you had wonderful weekends...
